National Poetry Month 2015: Sarah Mangold,

From Her Wilderness Will Be Her Manners

One good stomach and a clear head      My highly feminized
agency      Plant Explorers and other hunger fighters      A picture
cannot be the same at all hours of the day      To look wild
to the most indifferent observer      A stretch is far more serious
than a cut

Sarah Mangold is the author of the just released Electrical Theories of Femininity (Black Radish Books) and Household Mechanics (New Issues). Her most recent chapbooks include The Goddess Can Be Recognized By Her Step (dusie kollektiv) and Parlor (above/ground press). She is the recipient of a 2013 National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Fellowship. From 2002-2009 she edited Bird Dog, a print journal of innovative writing and art. Originally from Oklahoma, she now lives and works near Seattle.
