National Poetry Month : Douglas Barbour,

meet the parents
each time the same
and different
tell that to the kids

body knows what body feels
loss across the years
ordinary people
or not      all learn
dreams will falter

& drift     memory

batters against stories
organizing what realities
no one can now recall
each time we tell them again

Douglas Barbour is doing isolation, as all good poets should. Professor emeritus at University of Alberta, & author, most recently, of Listen. If, UofA Press.
