meet the parents
each time the same
and different
tell that to the kids
body knows what body feels
loss across the years

or not all learn
dreams will falter
& drift memory
batters against stories
organizing what realities
no one can now recall
each time we tell them again
Douglas Barbour is doing isolation, as all good poets should.
