How to invent an analytical engine. You can’t. It’s already been done by Lady Ada Lovelace. Lord Byron’s daughter. Her mother, Annabella, was married to him for a year. She hated him and his literary ways. She ran away and took their baby Ada and engaged only science tutors as the child grew up. Byron saw her just fleetingly. He writes in Child Harold’s Pilgrimage “Is thy face like thy mother’s my fair child Ada sole daughter of my house and heart?” Full of sob and regret. He did have his literary ways.
Heather Cadsby is the author of 5 books of poetry. The most recent is titled Standing in the Flock of Connections (Brick Books).
