National Poetry Month : Zane Koss,

From Apartment Notebooks:
                                                                  03/15

Green     glow
         afternoons
     light   passing   thru
  plants

             an  angle    shifts
       across      the
             shaggy  white rug

   early    to   late    afternoon

  3   pm       bright     clear
    light    of  illuminated  glowing
house  plants
             direct across    the couch
   from   the   left     window
         on      the back
              of    Kate’s  head    and neck
hair glowing like copper
       as    light   passes   thru
     and    is      caught

the    cornice   of window trim
    along   the    bottom     edge

the    lip   of  the      counter top
           peninsula
the     arabesque      grill  over
        the    hidden      radiator
  which     is      never    on    during
         the  coldest       day  ,  but
        always     the      day  after .

Kate     strokes    my  arm  with
                 her       foot ,    softly
                                accidentally

     I      am        writing.

          The   world    is     learning
                             social    distancing

Green   glow     off set   by
                   the    pink   warmth
                  of   the    brick    by   the
                               Mexican       sculptor ,
                                               Bosco

   Dark     brown      wood     of   the
         open        framed    book  shelf

No    sense   now       to  repair     the
        scratched       paint .

The      variegated  leaves    of
                the    monstera  ,
                                  uneven  shadows
              light   and   dark   on
                         each       leaf.

  The     regular   drift    of     airplane
          roar      overhead .

Will   we   tell           them
how    to  fix  the  fridge  when
   the   motor   starts   to   whine?

Each    plane    hung   up   in
the     sky    in      a   row   ,
         like    a     string of  lights
