word
The old road curves through the forest and towards the mountain, past the cave where the magicians live. You’ll know it by the glittering boulders and the playing cards lodged in certain trees. Wristwatches tick in quiet, smoky hollows. There are rabbits too, of course, going down to the lake to drink, the water incredibly clear and incredibly blue. If I asked you to imagine a top hat full of stars, could you imagine it? Could you imagine a lion so gentle and patient it lies down right there on top of the grand piano when you ask it to and doesn’t say a word?
